Primary Health Care & Community Medical Camps

Tamas Society works to improve access to basic healthcare for underserved and marginalized communities, particularly people living in remote rural areas and urban slums.

Through health camps and community-based interventions, the Society aims to provide timely healthcare, health awareness and appropriate referral support to people who may otherwise face barriers to accessing medical services.

Our Health Camps

Tamas Society has organised health camps designed to address immediate healthcare needs while also promoting awareness and prevention.

Depending on community needs, health interventions may include:

  • General health check-ups
  • Paediatric care
  • Gynaecological services
  • Eye care and screening
  • Surgical and referral support
  • Health awareness
  • Nutrition awareness
  • Hygiene and sanitation awareness
  • Family health and family-planning awareness

A Comprehensive Approach to Healthcare

Our approach combines prevention, awareness, early identification, treatment and referral.

Health camps are designed not only to provide medical assistance, but also to help individuals and families understand common health concerns and adopt healthier practices.

Healthcare Where It Is Needed

Tamas Society’s early work included health check-up and awareness camps in hard-to-reach areas of Hooghly District, including a major health camp at Bansberia New Boys’ Club.

These early initiatives included general health screening, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, ECG, eye testing, identification of cataract cases and other healthcare services.

Our Commitment

We believe that access to basic healthcare is an important part of building healthier and more resilient communities.

Tamas Society continues to work towards making healthcare information, preventive support and appropriate medical assistance more accessible to underserved communities.
