Tamas Society offers internship opportunities for students and individuals who want practical exposure to community development and social-sector work. Interns can gain experience through participation in programmes involving children, women and underserved communities while developing their own professional and field-based skills.
Internship Opportunities
Tamas Society offers short-term and long-term internship opportunities, generally ranging from one month to six months, for students and learners from fields such as:
- Social Work
- Law
- Development Studies
- Nursing
- Pedagogy
- International Cooperation
- Photography
- Other related fields
Interns may participate in ongoing organisational activities and are also encouraged to develop and present independent projects where appropriate.
Duration & Certificate
The minimum period of internship is 15 working days.
A certificate is issued upon successful completion of the internship period. The quality of an intern’s work may be reviewed and assessed by the appropriate team or experts at the end of the internship.
International Internships
International students interested in an internship with Tamas Society are requested to apply at least three months in advance to allow sufficient time for planning and necessary arrangements.
Internship Guidelines
To ensure a safe, respectful and meaningful experience, all interns are expected to follow these guidelines:
- Interns should attend the designated induction session at Tamas Society as instructed by the organisation.
- Interns must behave professionally and respectfully towards children, women, staff and community members at all times.
- Interns must obtain permission from Tamas Society authorities before visiting individual homes or project locations of beneficiaries.
- Any meeting with parents or beneficiaries should take place within premises designated by Tamas Society.
- Any concern or situation that appears objectionable should be discussed directly with the appropriate Tamas Society authority.
- Interns should treat all children and beneficiaries equally and without bias or discrimination.
- Interns should listen carefully to beneficiaries and avoid reaching immediate conclusions. Concerns should be discussed with the appropriate authority when necessary.
- Interns should not allow children or beneficiaries to use their personal belongings, including mobile phones, tablets or other personal devices.
- Interns should not involve children or community members associated with Tamas Society in activities or events outside the organisation without prior permission.
- Interns should maintain appropriate professional boundaries and respect the dignity, privacy and safety of beneficiaries.
- Interns should be sensitive and respectful towards children and families who may come from challenging or vulnerable circumstances.
Independent Projects & Learning
Interns are encouraged to make their internship a meaningful learning experience. Where appropriate, they may propose independent projects, research activities or creative work related to Tamas Society’s programmes.
Any such project should be discussed with and approved by the organisation before implementation.

Important
Any violation of the above guidelines will be treated seriously and may result in appropriate action by Tamas Society, including termination of the internship.
